Mayurbhanj: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today again targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leaders for stopping scholarships for SC/ST students, KALIA scheme and not extending support to the State during desvastating natural calamities.
Patnaik slammed Modi for not visiting Odisha during the devastating natural calamities but visiting the State daily during polls.
“Centre stopped scholarships for SC/ST students. It has not done anything for improvement of the rail network in Mayurbhanj district. A Union Minister tried to stop establishment of a medical college in Mayurbhanj. But State Government moved the Supreme Court and brought permission from SC Empowered Committee,” said Patnaik during his election campaigning in different places in Mayurbhanj district.
Patnaik further informed that while Odisha’s share for Baripada Medical College and Hospital was 80 per cent Centre provided only 20 per cent.
Mayurbhanj is among six Lok Sabha seats in Odisha, which will go to poll on the fourth phase on April 29, the last polling day in Odisha. The other five LS seats are Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsighpur and Balasore. Results will be announced on May 23.
Elections will also be held simultaneously in 42 Assembly constituencies on April 29.
