Bhubaneswar: As part of the State Government’s plan to make Puri a world-class pilgrim city, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday announced a package of Rs 500 crore to undertake infrastructure and beautification programmes.
The package also includes compensation amount to be paid to families who will lose land for the development programmes.
New roads, multi-level parking, creation of a big lake, a large flyover named Shree Setu, modern facilties for devoteesand renovation of mutts and existing lakes have been planned.
As per the list, Shree Setu will be built from Malatipatapur to the Jagannath Ballabh Mutt at a cost of Rs 190 crore. A large prayer hall and other modern facilities will come up at the Jagannath Ballabh mutt at an investment of Rs 180 crore.
For renovation of Musha River and creation of communication linking of Mangala river, Rs 85 crore will be spent.
An artificial beautiful lake will come up on a sprawling 28 acres of land. For this, Rs 35 crore has been allocated.
Four existing holy ponds will be renovated. Renvation and beautification work will be undertaken at the Atharnala at Rs 5 crore.
