Naveen announces Covid package of Rs 532 crore for MNREGA workers

Bhubaneswar, July 9: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced Covid assistance package of Rs 532 crore for MNREGA workers in the State. This assistance will benefit 32 lakh MNREGA workers of the State. The financial assistance is for the MNREGA workers who had worked in the months of April, May and June. Each worker will also receive an extra Rs 50 for each day of work done during the months. Patnaik said that he has special place in his heart for the poor. “This assistance will help the poor in this difficult time. I will continue to work to help the poor,” said Patnaik. He also directed district administrations to create more work days under MNREGA. In June, Patnaik had announced Rs 1,690 crore assistance package for landless farmers, construction workers, poor and tribals in the State who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
