Star winger Nandhakumar Sekar rejoins Odisha FC until 2027
Kalinga Warriors fans have reason to celebrate as Nandhakumar Sekar officially rejoins Odisha FC on a contract lasting through the 2026–27 season. Football culture in Bhubaneswar has grown significantly in recent years, with local supporters filling the Kalinga Stadium for major clashes. This signing brings a familiar face back to that vibrant home crowd.
Nandha previously spent four highly productive seasons with this squad. During that time, he established himself as a core attacking player on the wing. He made 59 appearances in the Indian Super League during that earlier stretch. Over those challenging matches, he scored seven goals and provided five assists for his teammates.
His most successful run happened during the remarkable 2022–23 campaign. He played a central role when the team qualified for their very first ISL playoffs. He then added four more goals during the winning Super Cup run, cementing his status as a fan favorite.
These strong performances naturally caught the attention of national team selectors. He earned his first senior India call-up shortly after the domestic season wrapped. He made his international debut against Vanuatu in the 2023 Intercontinental Cup, proving his ability on a larger stage.
Expressing his excitement, Nandha mentioned his deep happiness about returning to the club. He noted that the team gave him special memories and he looks forward to reconnecting with the fans in the stands. He remains ready to work hard and contribute meaningful minutes for the rest of the season. Club management eagerly anticipates seeing him back in action, bringing valuable experience and leadership to the roster.
