Bhubaneswar, June 12: Nandankanan Zoological Park, which is usually closed to visitors on Mondays, will remain open on Monday, June 16, to accommodate the expected surge in footfall during Odisha’s popular Raja festival.
According to the park’s Deputy Director, the decision has been taken in view of Raja Sankranti, the concluding day of the three-day festival, which begins on June 14. The festival typically attracts a large number of tourists from across the state, many of whom visit the zoo and its adjoining botanical garden.
To facilitate public access during the festivities, both the zoological and botanical sections of the park will remain open on June 16. In lieu of this, the park will observe its weekly closure on Tuesday, June 17.
Nandankanan authorities have also made arrangements to manage the anticipated crowd and ensure a smooth experience for visitors during the festival period.
