Bhubaneswar/Jharsuguda: After being formally inducted to the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Jharsuguda MLA Naba Kishore Das, who resigned from the primary membership of Congress on January 16, today resigned from his MLA post today.
Das has sent his resignation letter to Assembly Speaker Pradip Amat.
Das was inducted into the BJD fold by Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik in a big rally at Amipali in Jharsuguda district this morning. A large number of Das’s supporters also joined the regional party.
On January 16, Das resigned from the primary membership of Congress and also the post of Odisha Congress working president and hinted at joining the ruling BJD.
Das has an enviable hold on his constituency. When a demoralised Congress was reduced to an embarrassing third position in the three-tier panchayati raj institution (PRI) elections held in 2017, Das managed to ensure a victory for most candidates in his constituency.
