Bhubaneswar: The death of Royal Bengal Tiger, ‘Mahavir’, in Satakoshia forest in Angul district has triggered many suspicions with different experts giving different opinions regarding the wound seen on his neck.
Wild animal expert Nadia Chand Kanungo said the death wasn’t natural at all and an inquiry would only reveal if the Radio Collar uses in his neck caused the wound. Former PCCF Bijay Ketan Patnaik said the reason can be known after post-mortem.
Many now suspect that the wound might have been developed after an arrow attack. “How forest officials could not know that Mahavir had a wound in his neck that led to his death. It is sheer negligence of forest officials that can be blamed for unnatural death of Mahavir,” said many.
According to official sources, the post-mortem would be conducted on the corpse today in the presence of higher officers of the Forest Department.
