Musical performances leave audience spell-bound at Guhari Festival

Bhubaneswar, July 5: Today was the second evening of the 'Guhari', a devotional and spiritual music festival presented by the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture and organised by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Center, Bhubaneswar. The vocalists of the second evening were Sourav Nayak, Rudra Narayan Mohanty, Karunakar Sethi, Rupak Parida, Preetinanda Rautaray, Sweta Mishra, Harapriya Swain and Nazia Alam. The devotional music performed by them were Neemba ku chandana karu, Mahaprabhu kahinki karuna unna, Jibanre thibi jebe jibi brundabana, Nilachakra he dekha uduchhi bana, Jibana patra mo, kahin achh natha parana debata, Kede sundara disea kalia hati, Brundabane ke banshi bajaila, Megha pacharila barasadharaku, etc. They were accompanied by Dusmanta Kumar Parida on tabla, Abnikant Das on drums, Jawahar Mishra on flute, Priya Ranjan Mohanty on octopad, Narendra Kumar Mohapatra on keyboard and Bhavatosh Mohanty on guitar. Guests of the inaugural function were Madhu Sudan Padhi, Additional Chief Secretary, Odia Language, Literature and Culture; Ranjan Kumar Das, Director, Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture; Dr Bijay Kumar Jena, Principal, Utkal Sangita Mahavidyalaya; Prabodh Rath, Secretary, Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi, and Subodh Chandra Acharya, Chief Executive Officer, GKCM Odissi Research Center. The program was moderated by Dr. Mrutyunjaya Rath.
