Bhubaneswar, Sep 25: The Odisha government has decided to review the standard operating procedure (SOP) in the wake of the death of two persons including a journalist at Munduli on Friday.
Popular Odia reporter Arindam Das was among the two deceased in a boat mishap during rescue attempt of a stranded elephant inside Mahanadi river by the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) on Friday. The body of the ODRF personnel identified as Sitaram Murmu was recovered today.
An inquiry has already been ordered by the Director General of Police (DGP) into the mishap. Several organisations and experts have also raised questions on the decision of the ODRAF to board Das along with his camera persons on the boat for a dangerous rescue operation.
