Bhubaneswar, September 3: A terrifying series of road accidents took place near Palasuni flyover in Bhubaneswar around 4:10 am on Thursday, leaving at least four people critically injured.
According to reports, the incident occurred near a roadside tea stall where several people were having tea. A Mahindra XUV reportedly lost control and rammed into the stall before crashing into two cars and two motorcycles. The impact was so severe that the vehicles were badly damaged.
Four people sustained critical injuries in the accident. The youth who was allegedly driving the SUV was also injured and admitted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Following the incident, two PCR vehicles from Mancheswar Police Station, one each from Pahala and Saheed Nagar police stations, along with a highway patrolling vehicle, reached the spot.
Police and rescue teams pulled the injured persons from the accident site. One injured person was shifted to the hospital in a PCR vehicle, while two ambulances were used to transport the other critically injured victims to the hospital.
Mancheswar police subsequently seized and took all the vehicles involved in the crash to the police station and registered a case.
An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident and ascertain the speed of the SUV at the time of the crash.
