MP wildlife team arrives in Odisha to translocate tigress Sundari from Satakosia

Bhubaneswar, Mar 20: A team from Kanha tiger project, Madhya Pradesh today reached Odisha to translocate tigress Sundari from Satakosia Wild Life Sanctuary in Angul to Madhya Pradesh. Director, Kanha Tiger Project Sanjay singh said, a team of five wildlife experts headed by Asst. Director will receive the tigress from its enclosure in the core area of Satakosia Wildlife Sanctuary. First of all, the team will study the feasibility of changing the habitat for the tiger after examining its health condition. Thereafter,It will be carried away to Madhya Pradesh with a special carriage. However, it will be put at Ghorela Rewilding Centre, a reformatory for wildlife in order to revive the wilderness nature of the tigress. Subsequently, Sundari will be released in the Kanha Tiger Project, said Singh. To note that a tiger couple was hired from Madhya Pradesh in order to boost the Royal Bengal Tiger dynasty in Satakosia. But the project remained unsuccessful after the male tiger died a miserable death and Sundari became alone.
