Bhubaneswar, Nov 25: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has banned the movement of cattle on roads of the city.
A notice in this regard has been issued by the civic body. Cattle moving on the on road will be taken to Animal Welfare Centres.
The decision was taken as cattle menace has been causing traffic obstruction, death due to accidents on road. Besides tourists are also skipping their visit to tourist destinations such as Lingaraj temple due to the cattle menace.
“It is observed that several of the road accidents are caused due to the cattle menace. Animals on the road pose problems during the night when the visibility becomes poor and movement of the traffic goes faster,” said an official.
People allowing their cattle to roam on city roads of BMC will be treated as illegal and they will be lifted and will be maintained at the AWC at Jamukoli, AWC at Jatni Municipality and Govind Go Sevashram in Puri.
