Khallikote, July 17: A mother has allegedly left her newborn girl at Khallikote Community Health Centre in Ganjam late at night on Friday. The Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Khallikote rescued the abandoned baby and handed over to the childline. Sources said an expectant mother was admitted to the labour room of Khallikote Community Health Centre last night. Subsequently, she delivered a girl child with the help of the labour room nurses. Then she was shifted to the neonatal unit of the hospital. However, the mother and her woman attendant vanished from the bed leaving the newborn alone on the bed. After a frantic search, the mother was found nowhere. Following which, the hospital authorities informed the matter to the CDPO. Acting on it, the CDPO Ansupa Sahu recovered the baby and handed her to the District Childline after adequate nourishing. On the other hand, the identities of the woman have been proved fake. As a result, the CCTV footage is under scanner in order to trace the mother.
