New Delhi, May 30: The monsoon onset over Kerala is likely to take place by June 3, informed India Meteorological Department (IMD). Earlier the IMD had predicted the arrival of monsoon over Kerala by May 31.
As per the latest meteorological indications, the southwesterly winds could strengthen further gradually from June 1, resulting in likely enhancement in rainfall activity over Kerala. The normal onset date for the southwest monsoon over Kerala is June 1.
The Southwest monsoon, which brings more than 75 per cent of rainfall to the country, is expected to be normal this year, the IMD had said earlier.
