Miscreants rob Rs 6 lakh from bank at gunpoint in Sundargarh

Rourkela, Jan 13: Unidentified miscreants allegedly robbed Rs 6 lakh from a nationalised bank near Kuarmunda under Biramitrapur police limits in Sundargarh district on Wednesday evening. As per reports, four masked miscreants entered the bank branch and threatened the employees of gunpoint. The miscreants also assaulted the branch manager identified as Diptikanta Mallick with sharp-edged weapons and later decamped with the cash. Mallick who fractured his hand is currently undergoing treatment at the nearest hospital. Police have started an investigation after getting a formal complaint from the bank authorities. Police said that they are trying to ascertain the involvement of habitual offenders in the crime. “We are trying to obtain CCTV footage of nearby shops to identify the miscreants involved in the incident. Besides, we are also trying to find out the possible involvement of insiders in the incident,” said a police official.
