Nayagarh, May 6: A minor boy who ventured into the Kanipada forest in Odisha’s Nayagarh district to collect honey became trapped in a stone groove on Wednesday, prompting a large-scale rescue operation by emergency services.
The boy, identified as Shiba Pradhan of Kanipada village, has been stuck for more than five hours, according to initial reports. Local residents first noticed his condition and immediately alerted the Fire Services.
Two teams of fire personnel from Odagaon and Nayagarh were rushed to the spot. Officials said the boy’s head is lodged inside a narrow stone groove, making the rescue effort particularly difficult and delicate.
Rescue teams are using hydraulic jack equipment to carefully lift and shift the heavy stones in a controlled manner to avoid injury. A control room has also been set up in Nayagarh to closely monitor the operation.
Authorities at the site are maintaining constant communication with the boy and have stated that his condition remains stable. Rescuers are regularly engaging with him to keep him calm during the prolonged operation.
Officials also expressed concern over the potential presence of poisonous snakes in the forested area, adding to the challenges faced by the rescue teams.
