Lucknow, Sept 28: A mentally unstable woman was allegedly gang-raped by a group of eight auto rickshaw drivers in the Alambagh area of Uttarpradesh, police said today.
Four of the eight accused in the gang-rape have been arrested by the Lucknow Police.
According to the sources, the woman had gone missing on September 23, following which her father lodged a missing complaint in Alambagh police station. On September 24, he got a call from police station and there he found his daughter injured and in torn clothes.
The woman told her father that a group of miscreants had raped her and then he lodged a complaint of rape on the basis of which the police registered an FIR.
The four accused were traced by scanning CCTV footage of the area and arrested on Monday. An investigation is on regarding the matter and efforts are being made to arrest the remaining accused, said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Rajesh Srivastava,
