Indore (Madhya Pradesh), June 9: A court in Madhya Pradesh has granted the Shillong Police a seven-day transit remand of three individuals accused in the high-profile murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi. The three suspects — Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Raj Singh Kushwaha — will now be transported to Shillong for further investigation.

According to Additional DCP (Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya, the trio was presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), who approved the transit remand. Meanwhile, a fourth accused, identified as Anand, is being brought to Indore from Sagar, Bina (Madhya Pradesh), and is expected to be produced in court on Tuesday. All four will subsequently be taken to Shillong under police custody.

Raja Raghuvanshi, a resident of Indore, was allegedly murdered during his honeymoon in Meghalaya. Investigations suggest that the crime was executed by contract killers reportedly hired by his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi.

Providing details of the post-mortem, Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor, head of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Meghalaya, stated that the victim had sustained two head injuries inflicted by a sharp weapon.

Sonam Raghuvanshi was recently traced to a location near a dhaba on the Varanasi-Ghazipur main road, according to a senior official from the Uttar Pradesh Police. Before her recovery, Meghalaya Police had visited the Sakhi-One Stop Centre in Ghazipur, where Sonam was initially sheltered. She was later taken to the District Hospital for a medical examination.

In Indore, police have deployed security outside Sonam's residence amid heightened public attention. "Sonam, the deceased’s wife, resides here. A crowd had gathered, so security was deployed as a precautionary measure," said Siyaram Singh, SHO of Banganga Police Station. He added that the local police are not directly involved in the investigation, which is being led by the Meghalaya Police.

The case has shocked many, as both Raja and Sonam had reportedly gone missing while on their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Raja’s body was later recovered, marking a tragic end to what was meant to be a celebratory trip.
