Bhubaneswar, Sep 29: With the vision to promote sustainable trade and create market linkages, a mega buyer-seller meet was organized at Bhubaneswar on Thursday. The meet was organized under One District One Product initiative of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the MSME Department of Odisha. Sellers, Artisans, Traders, Farmer-Producer Organisations, Aggregators from various districts of Odisha showcased their products that are unique to the state including the world-famous Silver Filigree, Pattachitra, Millets, Maize, handloom (Ikkat & Sambalpuri) wood carvings and stone handicraft products. The event witnessed a good representation from the women entrepreneurial community, which is testament to the state’s support for women in business. Asit Kumar Tripathy, Principal Adviser to Chief Minister and Chairman of Western Odisha Development Council appraised the gathering of the state’s commitment to support entrepreneurs by facilitating clusters across the state, wherein key ecosystem actors comprising producers, processors, packaging units, testing standards and marketing experts would come together to take Make in Odisha products to consumers across the country. He highlighted several initiatives by the government aim at capacity building of entrepreneurs, could address issues related to access to credit. Secretary to MSME Department Ranjana Chopra interacted with all the buyers to understand the demand for various products that were displayed and assured the department’s support to facilitate linkages with the entrepreneurs in Odisha to meet this demand. She also highlighted the government’s progressive policy framework designed to create conducive business environment in the state. Focused trade discussions were facilitated between the buyers and sellers which resulted in signing of Letters of Intent for 6 products.
