Mayor posts of 2 municipal corporations reserved for women

Bhubaneswar, Jan 29: The Odisha government has reserved the offices of the Mayor of two municipal corporations for women candidates. A notification in this regard has been issued by the Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department on Friday. The offices of Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) have been reserved for woman candidates. The office of Mayor of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) is un-reserved. The department has also issued separate notifications for reservation of wards in the three corporations. The area of BMC has been divided into 67 wards, BeMC into 42 wards, and CMC into 59 wards. In the BMC area, three wards each are reserved for Scheduled Caste (Woman) and Scheduled Caste candidate, two for Scheduled Tribe (Woman) candidate, one for Scheduled Tribe candidate, and 29 for women candidates. In the CMC area, four wards are reserved for Scheduled Caste (Woman) candidate, three for Scheduled Caste candidate, one for Scheduled Tribe (Woman) candidate, and 25 for women candidates. In the BeMC area, two wards each are reserved for Scheduled Caste (Woman) and Scheduled Caste candidate, one for Scheduled Tribe (Woman) candidate, and 18 for women candidates.
