Mass protest: Rayagada Ekalavya Model School students march for DM’s office to meet Collector

Rayagada, Dec 7: In a mass protest raised against the Principal, students of Ekalavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Rayagada have marched for the District Magistrate’s (DM) office to meet the Rayagada District Collector on Tuesday. Boys and girls of the EMRS located at Barijhola have walked a 4-kilometer distance to put forth their grievances. Source said, the students of the residential school left for the district magistrate’s office in the morning and met the Rayagada Collector, Saroj Kumar Mishra, Additional District Magistrate Dharmananda Behera and the Integrated Tribal Development (ITDA)Project Officer Tuku Barik in the Collector’s office. During discussion, the students presented their slew of grievances and a long charter of demands including the want of teaching staff in the institution. At the same time, they demanded the transfer of the Principal alleging his gross negligence in managing the school. Responding to the student, District Authorities and ITDA officials assured to address their demands.
