Bhubaneswar, Oct 8: Ahead of the 28th ITTF-ATTU Asian Table Tennis Team Championship, set to begin in Bhubaneswar on October 11, Mascot Olly has been actively spreading the spirit of table tennis across Odisha.

Olly made appearances in various public locations, including Bhubaneswar, Konark, and Puri, engaging with locals of all ages. People were seen enjoying their time with the mascot, taking photos, and joining in the festive atmosphere.

The mascot’s journey took it to iconic spots such as the peaceful Dhauligiri in Bhubaneswar, the majestic Sun Temple in Konark, and the serene Puri beach. Olly also visited the famous Puri Shree Jagannath Temple, seeking divine blessings for the success of the Championship.

This year marks the first time the prestigious ITTF-ATTU Asian Table Tennis Team Championship is being held in Odisha. The event, taking place at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, will run from October 11 to October 15.

A total of 13 countries, including powerhouses like China, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, will participate, along with emerging teams from South Asia, the Middle East, and Central Asia. Both men's and women's teams from these countries will compete, making the event a major international gathering.

Apart from being a high-profile continental competition, the Championship also serves as a qualification event for the 2026 ITTF World Team Championship. This adds to the significance of the tournament for players aiming to secure spots for global competition.

As the excitement builds, the event promises to be a celebration of sport, unity, and the growing prominence of table tennis in the region.
