Maoists sabotage railway track: Three engines, 20 wagons of freight train derail

Malkangiri, Nov 27: As many as three engines and 20 wagons of a freight train were derailed near the Malkangiri-Chhattisgarh border area in Dantewada district on Saturday morning. According to the report, the Maoists had sabotaged the railway track between Bhansi and Kirandul area late at night on Friday. Later on Saturday morning, the goods train carrying iron ore from Bacheli to Visakhapatnam derailed. Dozens of armed Naxalites from the Bhairamgarh Area Committee of Maoists are believed to be behind the incident. Meanwhile, the Maoists had put up a banner on the loco in connection with the Central India bandh it had called for on Saturday in Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana against the Gadchiroli encounter where 27 extremists were killed. Being informed, an accident relief train from Kirandul has gone to the spot along with RPF officials and Kirandul railway officials. The repairing work of the railway track is underway and will be operational soon, said a railway official.
