Bhubaneswar: After a few months’ break, Maoists resorted to violence again in Koraput district by destroying a country liquor manufacturing unit, beating its workers and burning some vehicles at Dumuriput under Potangi block in the district during wee hours of Saturday.
According to reports, a group of Maoists came and searched for the owner of the liquor manufacturing unit first. As they didn’t found the owner, they beat up all workers severely there. After locking them in a room, they destroyed liquor making equipment and raw materials. They then torched a Bolero, two bikes and a generator kept outside the unit.
The Naxalas asked the workers not to work in the liquor making unit anymore, according to reports.
As it happened late in the night, villagers could know about the incident in the morning. Police have reached the spot and started investigations.
