Chitrakonda, April 21: Maoists hung red notice for the kendu leaf traders across the Swabhiman area in the Malkangiri district today. The incident came to the fore after the locals of Korukunda village discovered a Maoist poster on a tree along the Korukunda main road. The poster said that kendu leaf pluckers are exploited by the traders and the forest officials. They are being deprived of getting legitimate wages. The red militants put forth a three-point charter of demands in favour of the kendu-leaf workers. The demands include adequate wages to the pluckers, 100 percent bonus on the purchase price and social security to the kendu leaf workers. Failing which, the concerned Range officer, collection Munshi and the private traders, will be punished, threatened the ultras.
