Berhampur, April 13: Sabyasachi Panda, the top Maoist leader currently incarcerated in Berhampur prison, has completed his Master's in Sociology from the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), prison authorities confirmed on Monday.
Panda had completed the first year of the program in June of the previous year. He sat for his second-year exams in December and January at a special examination center established within the prison. The results, recently released by IGNOU, show that Panda passed the final exams with flying colors.
Another inmate joined him for the second-year exams, but while Panda passed all the papers, his fellow convict managed to clear only three of the four subjects, according to a prison official.
