Raipur, Jan 31: A Maoist was injured in an encounter with the security forces in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off regarding the presence of Maoists in Tarem forest in Bijapur district, a team of COBRA (COmmando Battalion for Resolute Action), a special operation unit of the CRPF, launched a combing operation.
As the security forces zeroed in on the spot, the hiding red rebels started firing at them which was retaliated back triggering an encounter in which the Maoist was injured.
However, other Maoists have managed to escape from the spot. The injured Maoist was rushed Bijapur District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) for medical aid.
The combing operation is still underway, informed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Bijapur, Pankaj Shukla.
