Imphal, May 3: Manipur marked the second year of the ethnic clashes between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities on Saturday with a statewide shutdown and mass demonstrations.
The day was marked by renewed calls for safe and unrestricted movement for all communities, alongside growing demands for a separate administrative arrangement.
Normal life came to a standstill across the state as both the Meitei-majority Imphal Valley and the Kuki-Zo-dominated hill districts observed the shutdown.
In the valley, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) spearheaded the protest, while in the hills, it was led by the Zomi Students’ Federation (ZSF) and the Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO).
