Bhubaneswar, March 22: The Orissa High Court on Tuesday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of the prime accused in the sensational Manas Swain murder case, Sarmista Rout.
Earlier yesterday, the police had apprehended Ranjan Nayak, proprietor of Raj Communication, and Niranjan Sethi, former Director of the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department for their alleged involvement in the case.
Later, they were sent to 14-day judicial custody yesterday after their bail pleas were rejected by the JMFC Court at Chandbali.
So far, five persons have been arrested in connection with the case. The other three arrestees are Bibek Nayak, Krushna Chandra Nayak, and Bhagyadhar Nayak.
On the other hand, Sarmista Rout, the Editor of Odia fortnightly ‘Sampurna’ and her associate Jhuna Bhoi are currently on the run.
