Bhubaneswar, Apr 2: Former Director (Technical) of Information and Public Relations department, Niranjan Sethi who is one of the suspects in the sensational Manas Swain murder case has reportedly confessed that he had helped prime accused Sarmistha Rout to flee after killing Swain, Crime Branch (CB) officials said on Saturday.
According to the CB officials, Sheti has confessed that he had helped Sarmistha to skip the city after committing the murder. Sheti said that he had lent Sarmistha a sum of Rs 10,000 and had advised her to flee to the Kaliapani area in Jajpur district.
The five-day remand of the four accused including Sarmistha Rout and Niranjan Sethi is ending today.
Meanwhile, a team of the Crime Branch has reached the office of the web portal ‘Sampurna’ in Bhubaneswar to carry out further investigation.
Along with the investigation team, accused Sarmistha and Sethi have also been brought to Bhubaneswar.
