<strong>Man sells out newborn daughter for Rs 12,000 in Jajpur</strong>

Jajpur, Jan 29: A poverty-stricken man of Jajpur, has sold out his newborn daughter for Rs 12,000 on Saturday. The incident came to the fore when the Child Protection Unit of Jajpur district initiated an investigation after a tip-off in this connection. The man has been identified as Natabara Behera of Sanaraipada village under Kotapur panchyat in Jajpur district. Sources said Natbara’s wife had delivered a girl child last Thursday despite she is having 2 girls with a son. Being annoyed after the issue, Natabara sold out his 3-day old daughter to a man of the Mahakalapada area as he was unable to nourish the newborn due to his poverty. Being informed, Child Protection officials took stock of the matter. During the investigation, Natabara has admitted regarding fetching his three-day-old baby to meet his everyday needs for the pre-existing children. The girl will be rescued soon. At the same time, stern action will be initiated against the offenders, said a Child Protection Official.
