Soro, Jan 13: The Simulia police today arrested five persons including owner of a bus after a man was killed after being hit by the bus on January 9 near Talanagar here.
The arrested have been identified as bus owner Purushottam Behera, conductor Chinmay Prakash Mohanty, driver Sheik Suraj, helper Basant Behera and an associate.
According to reports, on January 9, one Swadhin Ray Chowdhury, a clerk in the Balasore fisheries department, was returning home after completing his duty when he was hit by a private bus named Purushottam near Talanagar.
The bus driver rescued him and rushed him to a hospital. As Swadhin’s condition worsened, the doctor referred him to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
While on the way the DHH, Swadhin died on the way. At the behest of the bus owner, the driver, conductor, helper along with two other associates dumped the body in a farmland near Tentulia under the Simulia police station.
The police had recovered the body on the day and registered a UD case and had started investigation.
During the investigation, the police managed to crack the case with arrested of five persons including bus owner Purushottam Behera.
The police have seized bikes, six mobile phones, bus and other items used to dump the body from the.
The arrested have been forwarded to court, said police.
