Bhadrak, July 27: A man is on the run after allegedly hacking his wife to death with an axe following a domestic dispute in Parapokhari village under Bhadrak district.
The incident, which police say occurred Saturday night in the Kasia marine police station area, came to light Sunday morning when neighbours discovered the victim's body.
The deceased has been identified as Gurubari Jena. Her husband, Gopinath, is the primary suspect and is currently at large. Police have launched a search operation to apprehend him.
According to neighbours, Gurubari was Gopinath's second wife, and the couple was known to have frequent arguments, often stemming from financial issues.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the brutal killing and have sent Gurubari Jena's body for a post-mortem examination.
