Bhubaneswar, August 31: A 58-year-old man, Rajendra Jena, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Ganjam District and Sessions Court on Monday for murdering his wife during a family dispute in 2024.
The court also fined him Rs 10,000, with an additional one year of rigorous imprisonment if he fails to pay.
According to the prosecution, Jena killed his 56-year-old wife, Jhunu Jena, by striking her with a crowbar while she was asleep at their home under Brahmapur Sadar police station limits on August 28, 2024.
Police recovered a blood-stained crowbar from the spot and arrested Jena after his wife's brother lodged a complaint. The court delivered the verdict after examining 13 witnesses.
