Man duped of Rs 65 K over purchase of household articles in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, August 9: A man in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday has been duped of Rs 65,000 over purchasing household articles. The victim, identified as Kartik Kushwaha has lodged a complaint with the Cyber police in this connection. Sources said that Kartik received an anonymous call when the caller asked him to purchase some used household articles of a transferred Border Security Force(BSF) official worth over Rs 2 lakh for Rs 65,000 Being attracted by the fabulous offer, Kartik expressed his interest to purchase the goods. Accordingly, Kartik paid Rs 65,000 in three transactions which were credited to an account of one Laxman Hati. However, after the payment, the online seller switched off his phone. Acting on it, Kartik lodged a complaint with the police mentioning the call details and money transfer particulars. The police investigation revealed that the cash was fraudulently transferred to Laxman Hati who is working as a Constable in the Sahid Nagar police station and belongs to the victim’s village. According to the Cyber police, cyber fraudsters have duped the whole amount after hacking Hati’s savings account. Further investigation is underway to reach the miscreants, said the Investigating officer.
