Angul, Feb 14: A man died after falling from a country boat while crossing the Tikira River in the district today. The deceased has been identified as Pabitra Pradhan, a resident of Chintamanipur. According to the locals, they regularly used to cross the river for going to work as there was no bridge made over the river. On Sunday, Pabitra and 8 more people were crossing the river in the boat when Pabitra lost his balance near Karadei ghat and fell into the river. Subsequently, he drowned as no other persons in the boat were able to save him due to deep water. However, on being informed, the Kaniha fire service officials recovered the body from the river and sent it for the post-mortem.
