Man behind national anthem "Jana Gana Mana"

Bhubaneswar, May 7: People across Odisha remember the Nobel prize laureate and the composer of our national anthem 'Jana Gana Mana' Rabindranath Tagore on his birth anniversary. Tagore, the youngest son of Debendranath Tagore, a leader of the Brahmo Samaj. His works such as Ghare Baire, Chokher Bali, Jogajog, Gora, and Manihara are still relevant in modern times. Many renowned filmmakers continue to make films by adapting his novels and short stories. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913 for his collection Gitanjali published in London in 1912. The prize gained even more significance by being given to an Indian for the first time. This honour established Tagore's literary reputation worldwide. He composed the Indian national anthem, Jana Gana Mana, along with over 2,230 songs which are called Rabindra Sangeet. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took twitter and said, "Humble tributes to the composer of our National anthem, visionary poet, philosopher & Nobel laureate Gurudev #RabindranathTagore on his birth anniversary.
