Man arrested for cheating youth of Rs 1.6 lakh on pretext of providing job

Cuttack, May 12: Chauliaganj police today arrested a 36-year-old for allegedly cheating a youth on pretext of providing him a job in Home Department. Police said that the accused identified as Balram Behera had received Rs 1.6 lakh in January from one Soumendranath Sarangi promising him a job in Home Department. Police said that the accused impersonated himself as in-charge of Cuttack Railway Transporting Department. “He took the money in four installments and later switched off his mobile. The victim subsequently lodged a police complaint and the accused was nabbed on Wednesday. We have seized five forged employee ID of East Coast Railway,” said a police official. Further investigation revealed the accused of cheating Rs 2.3 lakh to one Bijay Kumar Nayak promising him a job in AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
