The incident took place at Gudiasahi under Jirina village within the jurisdiction of Bonth police station. The accused, identified as Pritam Sahoo, is alleged to have attacked his mother, Mamata Sahoo, with an axe following a suspected family dispute.
According to police sources, the crime came to light after local residents informed the authorities. Acting on the information, a police team from Bonth police station reached the spot, detained the accused, and seized the weapon believed to have been used in the murder.
Police have taken Pritam Sahoo into custody and are questioning him to determine the exact circumstances and motive behind the incident.
An investigation into the case is currently underway.
