Mumbai, Jan 28:Mamta Kulkarni, the former Bollywood actress-turned-spiritual leader, has officially announced her resignation from the post of Maha Mandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhada. In a heartfelt statement, she made it clear that the decision was made voluntarily and with a clear mind, effective from January 27, 2026.
In her message, Kulkarni clarified that her resignation is not the result of any conflict or disagreement within the Akhada. She specifically mentioned that she harbors "no qualms with Dr Acharya Lakshmi Narayan Tripati", the head of the Akhada, and expressed deep gratitude and respect for the position that had been bestowed upon her.
Taking to Instagram, Kulkarni explained the reasons behind her decision, stating that her spiritual journey had now reached a point where a different path was calling. She wrote:
"I Mamta Mukund Kulkarni rightfully in a proper state of mind, am resigning from being a Maha Mandaleshwar of Kinnar Akhada as of January 27th, 2026. No qualms with Dr. Acharya Lakshmi Narayan Tripati, all love for bestowing respect."
She further emphasized that her personal understanding of spirituality is evolving. "It’s just that my spiritual knowledge will flow like J Krishnamurti," she said, drawing a parallel with the renowned philosopher. "Truth doesn’t need clothes or stature."
Kulkarni also shared a tribute to her guru, Shree Chaitnaya Gangagiri Nath, who she said did not accept any formal titles or positions. "My Guru Shree Chaitnaya Gangagiri Nath didn’t accept any," she penned. She reflected on her own spiritual journey, mentioning, "I lived 25 years of life as an ascetic and will continue to practice the same in silence, parting my knowledge wherever and whenever needed, irrespective of any party or specific group affiliation."
Her resignation from the high-profile religious post comes after a series of public statements and controversies that have stirred both religious and political circles. Kulkarni’s decision seems to signal a shift towards a more personal, introspective spiritual path, one that is not bound by titles or external recognition.
As Mamta Kulkarni steps away from her leadership role within the Kinnar Akhada, her journey continues to unfold, with a focus on silent practice and universal knowledge. Her message to her followers and the public reflects a desire for a spiritual life free from external labels, reminiscent of the teachings she follows.
