Bhawanipatna, Nov 5: Senior Congress leader and former MP Bhakta Charan Das has called for a ‘Janata Curfew’ in Kalahandi district on November 8 over Mamita Meher’s murder case.
Seeking justice for Mamita’s family, Das has demanded the resignation of the Minister of State (MoS) for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged close proximity with the prime accused Gobinda Sahu. Besides, he demanded a CBI probe in the matter.
Reportedly, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will visit Kalahandi on November 8 for the distribution of the smart health card of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY).
Stating that the murder of Mamita Meher is a shame on humanity, Das said, “I request the people of Kalahandi to observe Janata curfew on November 8 to protest CM Naveen Patnaik’s visit in the district.”
“Attempts are being made to protect some influential political leaders in the case which is a mockery of the Indian Constitution,” added Das.
Worth mentioning, Congress has called for ‘Odisha bandh’ on November 12 over Mamita Meher’s murder case.
