Bhubaneswar, Nov 22: The Bhubaneswar unit of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday staged a protest ‘Halla Bol’ demanding justice for lady teacher Mamita Meher, who was murdered in Kalahandi district.

The party workers demanded the resignation of the Minister of State (MoS) for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra. Besides, they demanded a CBI probe into the matter.

The BJP Mahila Morcha workers blocked the road near Sishu Bhawan square in Bhubaneswar. Some workers attempted to break through the barricade and march towards the Naveen Niwas.

“Women are not safe in Odisha. Day by day, the Odisha government became intolerant towards women. Mamita is yet to get justice. On several occasions, we have seen Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during the BSKY Smart Health Card distribution programmes. Chief Minister tried to protect him. Neither Dibya Shankar has given resignation nor he was arrested. We demand the resignation and arrest of Dibya Shankar Mishra as soon as possible”, said a BJP worker.

Worth mentioning, the opposition parties BJP and Congress held several protests across the state seeking justice for Mamita Meher’s family. Mamita Meher, a teacher of Sunshine English Medium School in Mahaling of Kalahandi district, was allegedly murdered by Govind Sahu. The prime accused Govind Sahu was arrested in this connection.
