Bhubaneswar, Nov 19: Union Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan today came down heavily on Odisha government over the murder of Mamita Meher. Speaking at a party programme at the BJP State head office here, Pradhan said that the Chief Minister had earlier asked several ministers to resign on moral grounds during last 20 years but he has remained silent when the Minister of State for Home, Dibya Shankar Mishra has allegedly been linked with a sensational murder case. “Earlier, several ministers had tendered resignation on moral grounds. Tall politicians like Lal Bahadur Shastri and LK Advani had also resigned from their respective ministries taking moral responsibility. But, where did that morality go today?,” Pradhan said. He also came down heavily on the police as the family members of Meher were harassed and made to run from pillar to post just to file an FIR. He also demanded to book Mishra in the case. Govind Sahu allegedly murdered Mamita Meher and buried her body in Mahaling High School Stadium premises. Later, the police arrested Govind in this connection. Later in the day, BJD organizational secretary, Pranab Prakash Das responded to Pradhan and posted series of tweets asking Pradhan and BJP to present evidence to substantiate their allegations. “ If you & your party can, present evidence before Police & High Court, then not just dismissal, CM will put the culprit behind bars,” read a tweet of Das.
