Malkangiri, Aug 2: Two teachers in Odisha’s Malkangiri who are using their motorcycles to take ‘mohalla’ classes to teach children have garnered praise in the locality.
The education system has collapsed across the state due to the Covid epidemic. To straighten the backbone of the education system, the state government has launched online courses. However, in districts like Malkangiri, where the mobile network has not yet reached, the children have been far away from studying for the last two years.
Under these circumstances, two teachers have launched the ‘My Village My Education’ program on their own initiative.
The two front-line teachers, Nab Kishore Mallick and Dhurba Charan Nayak, from Kalimela block of Malkangiri district, have launched such a unique education system on their own initiative.
“Very few students were able to join the online classes, so the two teachers started the classes. This also ensures the safety of both teachers and students as there is no contact. As students can’t go to schools, the duo is bringing education to their doorstep,” said a local.
