Bhubaneswar: A flood-like situation has occurred in the low-lying areas of Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district due to incessant rains and swelling of the Mahendratanaya river in the aftermath of severe cyclone ‘Titli’.
Villages in low-lying areas have been marooned in rainwater. Water is flowing above knee-deep water and has gushed into houses. People have been unable to move out of houses. Fire brigades have been pressed into service to rescue affected people.
Rain is still occurring in the district by the impact of Titli, adding to the woes of people of Gajapati district.
Notably, Gajapati district has been declared as the worst-hit district in the severe cyclone Titli.
