Bhubaneswar, August 11: Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan has firmly stated that Mahaprasad from the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri will not be sold or distributed through online platforms. The decision comes in response to recent proposals from various organizations seeking to facilitate online delivery of Mahaprasad and Sukhila Bhoga (dry offerings) to devotees across the country and abroad.

Addressing the media, Minister Harichandan confirmed that the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration and the State Government have unanimously rejected such proposals. He emphasized that, unlike offerings from other temples across India, the sanctity and spiritual significance of Mahaprabhu Jagannath’s Mahaprasad are unique and must be preserved.

“There are doubts about maintaining the purity of Mahaprasad if distributed online,” the minister said. “For this reason, neither the temple administration nor the state government supports the idea of online sales.”

Harichandan urged devotees to visit Puri personally to seek the divine darshan of Lord Jagannath and receive Mahaprasad directly, in keeping with the long-standing traditions of the temple. “Let no one treat sacred temple offerings like hotel food,” he added, appealing to other temple authorities to refrain from commercializing prasad through digital platforms.

In a related development, the Law Minister also announced that a revised Abhada Rate Chart-the price list for temple food offerings-will be implemented shortly. He confirmed that discussions on the matter have already concluded.
