Athagarh, Sept 29: Floodwater from the Mahanadi has receded from the Maa Bhattarika Temple in Badamba, Cuttack district.

Around one foot of floodwater had entered the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.

Due to the rising water level, the movable idol of Maa Bhattarika was shifted to a temporary shrine at Ratnagiri Hill near the temple.

After nearly 24 hours, the water level inside the temple premises receded around 3:30 am.

Following the fall in water level, the idol was brought back to the main temple in the morning.

The priest committee resumed the regular rituals and worship at the temple as usual.
