Mahanadi bus mishap: Governor visits injured at SCB

Cuttack: A day after 10 persons were killed and nearly 40 people injured when a private bus carrying more than 60 passengers overturned and fell off the Mahanadi bridge on the outskirts of Cuttack, Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal today visited SCB Medical College and Hospital here and met the injured persons undergoing treatment at the premier hospital. The Governor talked to the injured persons and their relatives. He also talked to the doctors and asked them to ensure all possible medical treatment for them. Earlier in the day, the bodies of 10 persons were sent to their native places after post-mortem. The Cuttack district administration arranged vehicles to send the bodies to their native places. Transport Minister Nursingha Sahu also visited the hospital and met those injured in the accident. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the next of the kin of the deceased and free treatment for the injured.
