Bhopal, September 19:  Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday distributed scooties to more than 7,400 meritorious Class 12 students under the 'Mukhyamantri Scooty Yojana' at a state-level programme held in Bhopal.

The programme was organised at Government Subhash Excellence Higher Secondary School in the state capital. During the event, Yadav viewed artworks created by students, interacted with them and also took a ride on a scooty before extending his best wishes to the beneficiaries for their future.

The Chief Minister Yadav symbolically handed over scooties to select students in Bhopal, while other eligible beneficiaries received financial assistance of up to Rs 90,000 for petrol-powered scooties and Rs 1.20 lakh for electric scooties.

“Today, our government launched a programme to provide scooters to top-performing students from government schools, based on the scheme we had announced. Petrol-powered scooters cost approximately Rs 90,000, while students opting for electric vehicles receive scooters worth up to Rs 1.20 lakh,” Yadav said.

He said the initiative was aimed at encouraging students from government schools to make the best use of their talent and capabilities and contribute to the development of the state and the country.

Highlighting other educational initiatives, Yadav said the School Education Department and Tribal Welfare Department had distributed laptops to 1.45 lakh students on September 1.

He said government schemes were creating new opportunities for young people and contributing to greater public confidence in the state government. According to Yadav, students from government schools are now outperforming their private-school counterparts in state board examinations.

Under the Mukhyamantri Scooty Yojana, eligible students who secure the first position in their respective schools, score at least70 per cent marks in Class 12 in their first attempt, and meet the scheme's eligibility criteria are entitled to financial assistance of up to Rs 90,000 for petrol-powered scooties and Rs 1.20 lakh for e-scooties.

Students from all streams are covered under the scheme.

The initiative seeks to recognise academic excellence among government-school students while providing them with mobility support as they pursue higher education. It is also intended to encourage students to perform better academically and continue their studies after Class 12.
