Bhubaneswar, Feb 26: Lower Indra Project is likely to be completed during 2021, Water Resources Minister Raghunandan Das told the assembly. This was informed by the Minister in response to the question raised by Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja in Odisha assembly. Das said that the Lower Indra Project under construction will irrigate almost 29900 hectares of farm land of Balangir and Nuapada districts. The minister said that the proposed project is likely to be completed within the fiscal year 2023-24. The detailed project report(DPR) has   been approved by Central Water Commission(CWC) in 1997. The first revised cost estimate has received CWC’s nod in 2009. However, the second revised estimate has been returned by CWC on technical ground. Early compliance will be submitted to CWC, added Das.
